When Our Worlds Collided by Danielle Jawando

YOUNG READER REVIEW

I enjoyed this book. Jawando really shows and explores the way one event can trigger so many more events after. This book really made me question and brought light to the issues of racial injustice and stereotypes that are still a very pressing matter in the UK and the violence and danger that young people face due to it. It was a very emotional book that also explored the idea of what family is and how friendships are so important – a definite must read! By: Ruth (age 14). Rating : 4/5.

When fourteen-year-old Shaq is stabbed outside of a busy shopping centre in Manchester, three teenagers from very different walks of life are unexpectedly brought together. What follows flips their worlds upside down and makes Chantelle, Jackson, and Marc question the deep-rooted prejudice and racism that exists within the police, the media, and the rest of society.
